These are the goats that are not with us anymore, but have left a profound impact on our herd. We miss them all dearly. They may be gone, but they will never be forgotten. These are the animals we've lost over the last 16 years, their causes of death are listed. The adults are all up, but I still have some baby goats I need to get pictures and get added. They mattered so much to us that we feel they ALL deserve to be listed and remembered.
These 3 girls were the start of it all for us. Our very first goat was the caramel on the left, Tabitha. The most amazing little doe. Never left my side. Her daughter is the caramel on the right, Faline. Both does took many unregistered grands, and are what spawned our love for showing. When Tabitha was about 4 years old, we rescued her mother, the agouti in the middle, Lacey. Tabitha and Lacey remembered eachother immediately and the 3 does were inseperable for the rest of their lives. We lost Lacey when she was 13. Faline joined her grandmother at 10, and Tabitha followed when she was 12. We were blessed that all 3 girls went in no pain. They will always be missed.

Ash-Ana Acres Silver Belle
2XGCH
Sire: PGCH Country Sky Tomahawk
Dam: GCH Azure Spring's Indigo
Belle was about as devastating of a loss as Angel. Belle and Angel were our girls. The sweetest ones out there. Gorgeous, awesome little show does. Belle's symptoms started with adema under her chin and under her barrel from elbow to flank. She was immediately brought to the vet.. We took her to the Caine Veterinary Teaching Center and had had down there for a week. They ran every test under the sun and couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. She lived for a year. She died of cancer. It was really hard on us to lose Belle.

GCH Ash-Ana Acres Crescendo
Sire: PGCH Whirlwind Farm's A Merlin Classic
Dam: PGCH New-Land Sensation
Crescendo won over 27 championships in short 4 years. He hated being shown! He would hunch up and keep his tail down, he just didn't show well. We hadn't done much breeding to him, trying to keep him in show shape. Big mistake. He rolled onto his back one night in July. We only had GCH AAA Daisy's Legacy, 2XGCH AAA Black Beauty & littermate Spellbound, and 3X Ranch Crystal. We were really bummed to lose him.

Ash-Ana Acres Cupee Doll
Sire: PGCH Ash-Ana Acres Totally Sensational
Dam: Ash-Ana Acres Cupid
We were so sad to lose Cupee. She got sick at our fair. Just like that she was gone.
|
Whirlwind Farm's A Classic Affair
Sire: Whirlwind Farm's Black Tie Affair
Dam: Whirlwind Farm's Touch Of Class
1 of our 2 WWF's doe. Neither one of them had the pelvic capacity to kid. Both of their kids died too. Classic Affair was never right after her kidding. Pale gums, had to have red cell for years. She was a sweetheart, lived for a couple of years after her kiddings. This doe didn't have a c-section like the other doe, huge kid, vet had a really, really hard time.
|

2XGCH Ash-Ana Acres Angel Of The Morning
Sire: PGCH Country Sky Tomahawk
Dam: GCH New-Land Angel
Angel was the most devastating loss in our herd. The most beautiful animal we owned, as well as the sweetest! She was the favorite for sure. I couldn't handle that kidding, it was Angel so I was scared to death. Had to have someone else come do it. They had a hard time also, broke the kids jaw, tore her uterus. We should have just gone in for the dang c-section! Something we will regret forever. She lived for 72 and we lost our precious Angel.

GCH Azure Spring's Indigo
Sire: Lynn's Lad's & Ladies Harley
Dam: Little Eden's Dixie Chicken
Indigo was 10 1/2 years old. Fat and happy. Terrible arthritis, but when the treats were on their way, she could run like a 2 year old. Beautiful doe. Produced two 2XGCH does and a GCH doe. She lived in a retirement pen with Winter's Dream, eating whatever she wanted. She rolled onto her back in the night. Poor Indigo.
|

Azure Spring's Spirit In Tweed
Sire: Lynn's Lad's & Ladies Harley
Dam: Little Eden's Dixie Chicken
Spirit and Elegance were some of our first goats. Spirit and Indigo had been shipped in from CA at 3 months, and Elegance was our first born registered baby goat who had just won Res. JR at her first show. Spirit took several JR's & RS JR's. They had mild colds, the vet came out and treated them with Terramycin granules. Both kids had reactions, basically suffered the same symptoms as Enterotoxemia, both died in my grandpa's arms that morning. 2 hours apart. It was terrible.

Ash-Ana Acres Tequila Sunrise
Sire: PGCH Ash-Ana Acres Totally Sensational
Dam: Azure Spring's Winter's Dream
We lost Sunny this spring to pneumonia. She had lost her baby about 5 weeks before, and had been in a smaller pen for close observation. We started letting her go into the pasture with the other girls during the day. She had been fine, gave no warning, I went out and there she was on her side. She lived for nearly 2 weeks. We tried Nuflor, Banamine, Re-Covr, Dex, Excennel, Baytril, etc. We tried everything, and couldn't bring her out of it.

Sagebrush Pygmies Raz-Ma-Taz
Sire: 3XGCH Lone Pine Pygmies Billy Bob
Dam: Sagebrush Pygmies Maria
I saw Raz when she was 3 months old at my first Pygmy Goat meeting. I wanted her immediately, but she had already been sold. She took several RS GCH's, and when she was 4 years old went back up for sale. We bought her, 4 months pregnant with her half brother's babies. Stormy and Daizy. Her next kidding produced 2 little caramels above, when they were 5 wks old, only a wk after this pic was taken, she dropped over dead. Heart failure. There are some genetic "max factors" in this bloodline. We don't have ANY of this line anymore, if you do or have any questions, feel free to ask. More information will be under Stormy and Rhapsody.

Kent's Curious Kid's Stormy
Sire: Kent's Curious Kid's King Cole
Dam: Sagebrush Pygmies Raz-Ma-Taz
His heart was missing 1 chamber, the flap didn't form and the blood would pulse through his heart. He never played, would get out of breath and pant just doing nothing. He found it easier to drink his milk from a bowl, it was easier than sucking. He made it 6 weeks. It was soooo sad. Think twice before you breed so closely. Half brother to half sister is NOT right. Poor little innocent lives do not deserve that. |

Kent's Curious Kid's Dazed & Amazed
Sire: Kent's Curious Kid's King Cole
Dam: Sagebrush Pygmies Raz-Ma-Taz
Daizy was killed by Dr. Calhoun of Caldwell Vet. He was the only one we could get to do her c-section after her cervix would not dialate. He left her awake, gave her some Rompin and gave her some locals around the incision site. What an idiot. He spent the next hour making cutting her more because he kept ripping it as he was "delivering" kids from her side! He cut into her flank. He finally had to put her out because she was too distressed, this after I had asked him to from the get go, but "no, goats didn't handle going out well...". The first baby was dead, the second was alive! GCH AAA Daisy's Legacy. Calhoun had made several tears in her uterus. He sewed them up. Her uterus was so swollen, it wouldn't go back down to size. He was having a hard time getting her sewn up. We lost her 48 hours later. He has done this to several more Pygmies since. Definately not ours.
|

PGCH Country Sky Tomahawk
Sire: PGCH Country Sky Katonka
Dam: Twin Arrow Esprit'
Tomahawk really contributed alot to our herd. The definition of a "Herd Sire". He was 11 years old with terrible arthritis. He would only put weight on one front and one back leg, and lean his head against the barn for balance. He wasn't eating, the pain was too much. He is the only animal we have ever put down. I am STRONGLY against euthanasia. Poor Tom. |

Ash-Ana Acres Elegance
Sire: 3XGCH Whirlwind Farm's Symbol Of Quality
Dam: New-Land Fluffy
Spirit and Elegance were some of our first goats. Spirit and Indigo had been shipped in from CA at 3 months, and Elegance was our first born registered baby goat who had just won Res. JR at her first show. Spirit took several JR's & RS JR's. They had mild colds, the vet came out and treated them with Terramycin granules. Both kids had reactions, basically suffered the same symptoms as Enterotoxemia, both died in my grandpa's arms that morning. 2 hours apart. It was terrible

New-Land Inspiration
Sire: 3XGCH Lone Pine Pygmies Billy Bob
Dam: New-Land Charity
Inspiration died of old age, one sunny summer day, on her favorite sleeping shelf in the barn. I loved this doe. She had a c-section, and I just got her as a $75 show/pet because I had wanted her since she was a baby! |

Ash-Ana Acres Dream Catcher
Sire: PGCH Country Sky Tomahawk
Dam: Azure Spring's Winter's Dream
Dream Catcher's baby died a few days before she kidded. The amniotic fluid her turned into a thick, custard like substance. The kid was born dead. She was flushed and hit HARD with antibiotics. She was just never right and we lost her the following year.
|

Night Star Rhinestone Rhapsody
Sire: PGCH Ash-Ana Acres Totally Sensational
Dam: Azure Spring's Winter's Dream
Rhapsody is from the same line as Raz-Ma-Taz. My grandma heard a goat screaming one night, ran out to the barn thinking Taffy was going into pre-mature labor, thought Rhapsody was Taffy and put a lead on her and was taking her to the kidding stall when she screamed and fell over and died. Heart failure.
|

GCH New-Land Angel
Sire: Sunset Knoll Trintan
Dam: 2XGCH Sunset Knoll Becky
Angel was sooo beautiful! We got 3 baby girls out of her. 1 was PGCH AAA Dark Skies, the other 2XGCH AAA Angel Of The Morning. Angel was 10 years old, TERRIBLE arthritis. Her mother Becky and her grandma Deanndra had some of the worst arthritis we've ever seen. Seemed to really be a problem with that line. Angel will always be one of my favorites. I miss her.
|

Ash-Ana Acres Midnight Moon
Sire: GCH New-Land Gideon
Dam: Proverbial Pygmies Moonshadow
We got her back while she was aborting 4 babies, 2 babies from each of the 2 different conception times. She was left in with a buck for months on end. 2 of the babies were almost full term, the other 2 were not even a couple of months along. The conception of the younger babies had put a bunch of bacteria in her uterus that led to the deaths of all of them. They adhered to her uterus. It was a long, detailed c-section. I'm amazed she made it through it with all the tears in her uterus. She died of tetanus a few days later.
|

Ash-Ana Acres First Kiss
Sire: PGCH Country Sky Tomahawk
Dam: Ash-Ana Acres Sheer Elegance
Kissy got bred through the fence and nobody realized she was pregnant because she always looked like she had swallowed a couple of pumpkins. Kissy had such a quiet voice that her new owners didn't hear her go into labor. The HUGE buck kid had torn her uterus and she went into shock and died. We feel so bad about poor Kissy.

Azure Spring's Winter's Dream
Sire: Lynn's Lad's & Ladies Harley
Dam: Azure Spring's Apollonia
Dream was 1 month shy of her 11th birthday. She just died of old age. She will be missed dearly..... |
